Tuesday morning classes during the summer term will help intermediate students who are interested in sirsasana (headstand) develop the strength, coordination and functional dynamics to practice the pose safely. We will prepare for and practice headstand each class.
Alternatives will be provided for those who want to refrain from practicing headstand, for any reason. The functional dynamics presented apply to many other poses, so meaningful yoga practice can happen for those passing on headstand.
Since we will be performing sirsasana (headstand), we must practice sarvangasana (shoulderstand) afterwards, to keep the nervous system balanced. It is recommended that students also attend the Thursday morning classes, which will feature shoulderstand, to improve their familiarity and proficiency with sarvangasana (and its alternatives). Please use the free class option if the number of classes per week exceeds your budget.
